Cruel Romance was started back in 2009 by people who worked at Kink.com in San Francisco, California. Films were written and directed by Malcolm Sherwood, who was a lead editor at Kink from 2005-2012.
These are scripted movies with sex and BDSM, not porn with a quick storyline – edgy softcore, influenced by Russ Meyer, Doris Wishman and underground comics. One film was even shot by the legendary American underground filmmaker Mike Kuchar.
